When most people think of Walt Disney World, they generally envision smiling children holding hands with Mickey Mouse. And to be sure, that’s something that millions of children do every year. However, there’s a lot for adults to do at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks.

Eat, Eat, Eat

Walt Disney World Theme Parks are a food lover’s dream. In addition to being able to eat from a variety of countries at World Showcase in Epcot, there are a lot of culinary delights throughout the park. There are a few restaurants before you get to the World Showcase, but the real delicacies are in the different countries. If you are looking for fine dining, there are many nice places to sit and have a delicious meal. If you are just looking for snack type meals, there are many places to stop and order and places to sit and eat. If there is one thing Disney does right, that is food.

For example, you can eat at the Lodge in Animal Kingdom and enjoy African cuisine or stop by the New Orleans resort for Beignets and a cup of coffee. Five-star restaurants, extensive wine lists, and hot dogs in Cinderella’s castle. It’s just one way for adults to enjoy Disney.



Live Music and Entertainment

Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) is packed with restaurants and night clubs that come alive at night. Enjoy dueling pianos, bands, and live entertainment. You can also enjoy cocktails at a variety of bars and restaurants. Cap it off with the Illuminations Laser Light show and fireworks to make a memorable evening from beginning to end.


Tours & Events

There are an ample number of tours/ There are some that are for the whole family and for young adults but there are a few just for adults only. Take a nice day and enjoy a tour of two. My husband and I are empty-nesters and each time we go to Disney now we try to do at least one tour. You can read more about some tours we’ve done at Behind the Scenes Opportunities. There are many events that take place at the Disney Theme parks to such as the Food & Wine Festival going on in the fall and the International Flower & Garden Festival in the Spring at Epcot. There are many more.

 

Play Golf

A great adult activity is golf. There are four 18-hole golf courses at Disney World. They are beautiful courses, and some are challenging. Be prepared to see wildlife at the courses to such as cranes, swans, other foul and alligators. If golf is not your thing there are three mini-golf courses.


Water Play

If you like to spend time in the water or on the water, there are many water activities. Besides just lounging at the pool at one of the resorts, there are the two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. If you enjoy boating you can rent a boat for the day or other watercraft, and there’s fishing too.


Shopping

The Disney Marketplace at Disney Springs is a collection of stores and boutiques. It’s much more than stores selling Mickey Mouse t-shirts. You can purchase everything from resort wear to jewelry to electronics. Bath products, personal items, and specialty gifts are also part of the many offerings. The Disney Marketplace also has restaurants and activities.



Spa Luxury

Do you enjoy a good spa treatment? Many of the resorts offer top quality spa treatments including massages, facials, and hair and nail treatments. You can also enjoy many of their fitness centers. There are dozens of spas on the Disney property, here are a few to consider:

* La Vida Health Club – Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

* Mandara Spa – Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel

* Muscles & Bustles Health Club – Disney’s Boardwalk Villas

* Olympiad Fitness Center – Disney’s Contemporary Resort

* Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort

Finally, you can run a marathon or half-marathon at one of the many weekend races held at Walt Disney World. You can come to watch competitions like the Division One College Championship basketball game. And if you’re ready to tie the knot the Magic Kingdom is a great place to get married. At Walt Disney World, there’s an abundance of activities to choose from for both children and adults alike.
